It's because American diet is sometimes excessive, as for example compared to Japanese. It's because violent deaths are more common, as for example compared to China. It's because drugs and alcohol take a toll, as for example compared to Switzerland. It's because corporate America and other employers have more than their share of workaholics under great stress, as for example compared to Scotland. It's because freedom breeds wild lifestyles with transmitted diseases, as for example compared to more strict nations like Norway. All in all, the great freedoms and opportunities Americans enjoy have sometimes a negative side as well.

It's not. You have an estimated view of the world. Your guess is almost as good mine obviously.

Probably connected with the fact that the third leading cause of death here is mainstream medicine

You should be a better role model for your kids, eat those things when they’re not looking. But I guess you did something right...at least they decided to become liberals

Easy.. More fast food and McDonalds on every other corner, TO much cheap FAST FOOD, and TO many SUGAR Filled Sodas... also TO many LAZY people who wont even walk 2 blocks to their local liquor store.. Fat leads to Diabetes, Heart Disease and many other things to help you die younger.

The leading cause of death for Americans under the age of fifty is drug overdose.

More than cancer, heart disease, or car accidents.

It is sad. Too much money goes to the super rich and not to the people who are in need. Obama did what he could, but the human turtle Mitch McConnell and trump are busy erasing everything that he did.

Too many minorities. Healthcare is like banking, insurance, investing, working out st a fitness center, eating healthy food, or even working for a living. There are whole segments of the population who simply do not participate.

Statistical Manipulation and apples to oranges comparisons.

First of all, most other OECD countries don't count every birth. They often exclude any child that died within a critical period of time or are born underweight. Since most infant deaths are exactly that, this makes other countries look like their infant mortality rate is much better than the US which counts every birth like you'd expect. This also impacts the life expectancy. When you make apples to apples comparisons (and many studies have) the US infant mortality rate is actually OUTSTANDING.

However, on top of that, the US has a couple problems. One is a fair bit of violence in our inner cities, and we drive alot more miles and have more accidents, but the big one is unhealthy habits. Especially our diets. How to put this delicately? We're fatasses. We eat preposterously unhealthy diets and obesity is strongly correlated with almost every major illness, so despite having a high quality healthcare system (again, there are apples to apples studies that compare health outcomes of similar diagnoses and the US healthcare system actually scores crazy high in them), the US life expectancy isn't so great because we have such a higher initial incidence of everything from diabetes to heart disease to cancer and much more...all correlated with bad diets and obesity.

Do you have a source for your assertion on statistical manipulation Entropy? In the UK this is most certainly NOT the case.
